Arcadia

At Arcadia, a climate-tech start-up seeking to decarbonize the planet through electrification and energy analytics, I led the product design function including teams of designers for both the Community Solar and Arc data platform businesses.

Platform Design Direction
and Strategy

With the consolidation of Arcadia’s two 2022 acquisitions into a unified data platform, I provided direction for vision of our platform experiences and clarity on roles-and-responsibilities for the design team that enabled the team to work in parallel while ensuring cohesive experiences.

Team Culture
and Momentum

When I arrived at Arcadia the team had been through three previous design leaders and were feeling undervalued and demoralized.  To address this I worked with the team to identify some of the key drivers and began to craft a collection of guidelines to help improve morale and increase the momentum of our work.

Voice Of Customer Program

In partnership with VP of Sales and Director of Strategy, I help define a framework to be used for capturing and synthesizing our voice of the customer program which sought to develop a deeper and more consistent understanding of customer needs.

Platforms…
better together.

Design Direction and Integration Strategy

With the consolidation of Arcadia’s two 2022 acquisitions into a unified data platform, I provided direction for vision of our platform experiences and clarity on roles and responsibilities for the design team that enabled the team to work in parallel while ensuring cohesive experiences.

I also worked closely with partners in product management and engineering to define a strategy for integrating three products into a single platform including release milestones, UX implications, and customer migration scenarios.

Culture Building

A healthy culture is at the heart of any successful team. One of my first undertakings at Arcadia was to understand the current culture and where it needed work.

Product-led Design

Teams that plan to build products that “sell themselves” are empowered to make good decisions on behalf of the customer. At Arcadia, we started by building awareness of this distinction so that we could enable design to have more impact.

Valued and Supported

Feeling valued is one of the most important intrinsic benefits a person can experience. This starts by making sure people are seen and recognized for their effort (not just their impact). By creating opportunities for designers to present work at company-wide meetings and providing visibility through public recognition, I was able to start laying a foundation for a happier team.

Listen to your customers.
All of them – everywhere.
